Japan's highest mountain is also an active volcano, its symmetric shape comes from the way it has been built up by many eruptions, the last of which was in 1707.

Katsushika Hokusai was most famous for his series of woodblock-cut prints called "36 Views Of Mt Fuji", produced in the early 1800s. Eventually he produced 46 views of this mountain.

Here I present "18 Views Of Mt Fuji" - all of which were taken from the Shinkansen Bullet Train between Tokyo and Nagoya.

Fuji was first shrouded in cloud, but as the train carried on, I got a clear view of a summit strangely clear of snow.

Various foregrounds and frames display Fuji-san in various lights

As the train speeds on, we leave Fuji-san behind.
